I`m thinking an early Spring with maybe three or four light smatterings of frost and followed with a good but not spectacular long Summer and I wondered about all your own personal feeling about it. Farmers and Gardeners know..........................

So what are your predictions about this coming year Season-wise based on your gut instincts?

I just want to make sure it`s not just wishful thinking on my part.

i suspect another warm wet summer, same as the last couple, I cant see any more real cold spells now.

I hope for a scorcher with wall to wall sunshine but living damp old wales I'm a realist!!!!

The British summer has shifted to May/June. Perfect for those of us who don't have sprogs.

You're right with that! We used to hold our school sports towards the end of June but over the past 10 years started moving them earlier as we found that May tended to be drier.

Since we retired we've found that June has been hot and dry, but that's only because we spend it in Greece:hehe:

I reckon there is another big cold spell coming. The tree at the bottom of my garden has made no attempt to wake up yet, and she knows. We will get a stormy period in March, then summer part 1 will be for a few days in late April, then will we get blustery wind from the north west bringing rain with it until late July, when summer part 2 will put in an appearance until early September. Then a mild Autumn will be followed by a cold winter.

Of course, what constitutes a decent summer in Southern England is very different to that in the Highlands!

We will have sun/rain/dry/hot/wind/cold/wet and lots of it. So, probably a 'typical' British Summer.

Wet Jan/Feb, warming/drying up into March, turning cold into April with possible snow, cold wet May with strong winds, slow warming into June. Persistent promise of hotness, culminating in tropical disappointment and the early onset of autumn.
