Have a look on Ebay Kathy, you should be able to find a genuine copy of XP Home edition for under £40. Be careful though as there are lots of 'copied' versions out there, but if you shop wisely you should be ok.
Hi Kathy I can Understand your feelings about XP,But I have Vista and at the moment I am very pleased with it ,I prefer it over XP ,if I can be of any assistance PM me ,or ask on this Thread I will do my best to help you anytime/24/7 :thumb:
Kathy; you might have a fair old faff getting XP loaded and then all the right drivers for your PC, so thats got to be a last resort for you. If you stick to Vista you can get it to look like XP on your PC by following some simple steps e.g. googling: "How to Make Windows Vista Look Like XP" For example. http://freeonlineclasses.net/windows-vista-tutorials/personalization/make-vista-look - like-xp-classic-without-hacks.html It won't look entirely like XP, but it might be enough for you. :gnthb: You should be able to find your camera photos using Windows Explorer.
thanks scotkat, dave w,woo. jwk, and bob have taking on board what you have all said I am hopeless with all this, very dissapointed with this new pc but dont want to wreck it, i have phoned a local repair guy and left a message for him, will see if he can even get a file that i can use my camera on jwk went on to the site you mentioned, its me trying to understand the jargon, its an age thingy, but will keep trying thanks to you all kathy
As I've said in other similar threads, Vista can be a real pain when it comes to drivers for some peripherals, particularly ones whose drivers are a few years old. BTW Kathy, what camera (make & age) are you using?
hi DaveW my camera is... SANYO XACTI VPC-S70EX....VPCS70 i bought it about 2 years ago, it doesnt want to accept my other camera which is FUJI FINEPIX203/FINEPIX A 303 its about 6 years old thanks Dave
Glad you got it but if not most new PC's have a duel boot option for XP or Vista so it might be worth having a look at that. Personally I prefer XP professional which give me all the options I like
I got fed up with the Windows new versions and having to update my software to run on the new version. I only have two applications which work on all versions of Windows, so I changed to Ubuntu OS (FREE) and a load of software (ALL FREE), even the two Windows applications run on Ubuntu. I don't get any problem with virus, it can't run on Ubuntu because of the way it works. But you do have to start learning all over again.
