    Hi all

I have an unsightly outhouse in my garden (used to be an outdoor toilet). I can't knock it down, firstly because the house is rented, and secondly because half the structure belongs to next door. So I thought I'd hide it a bit. I've got honeysuckle and jasmin growing on trellises either side of the unsightly entrance to it, leaving a big gaping gap so you can see inside where I store all my junk, and where you'd see all the ancient plumbing if not for my junk.

So, I thought I'd put some hanging baskets or one of those wall mounted baskets above the doorway and plant it with something that grows fast and trails, to make a kind of living curtain over the doorway. So here's where I need some opinions please.

Nasturtium is absolutely ideal in all but one characteristic. The smell is a bit too overpowering. On warn summer nights the wife and I sit outside on the patio, and would be very close to it, so the scent would be too much. Is there something that grows really quick, trails, has nice broad leaves and pretty flowers, just like nasturtium, but that doesn't smell as pungent?

Why not use a curtain clueless, A bamboo one, would look good, still use a hanging basket but with Trailing Toms so you can reach over and eat them while sitting on your patio, or trailing Strawberry's. Mmmm..

The bamboo curtain idea is a good one, and we did that once. The trouble is the string that held all the bits together rotted over time, and within a year it had all dropped to bits. I like the strawberry idea though. I might plant them with something else.

Thanks, I will have a good read up on creeping jenny (Incidentally, I knew a lass called jenny once, she was a little bit creepy:) ). Will it clash with strawberries do you think?

Trailing Lotus is nice in a hanging basket cascading down and clematis in a hanging basket is nice to.

You could try trailing Petunias, Easywave, Shockwave and Tidalwave can all reach 3ft in length but that may not be long enough for you.
