I don't think they still make tools like they used to. My dad has a number of garden tools that he's had since before I was born. At my mam's house there is an old shovel that belonged to my grandad that was already ancient at the time when I was little. Yet all my tools have been bought from new, and last no more than a couple of years. In fact the record for my tools is about 3 months for a new spade. 3 months from purchase to bent beyond repair. Mind that was a cheap spade, and I replaced it with a Wilkinson Sword so lets see how that gets on.

What better endorsement can you get for a brand of tools? Death by wear and tear? No. Only when driven over by a car did it meet its demise:)

That's just great! A new garden tool just doesn't compare with a well worn old one. I've a dutch hoe that is at least 80 years old and a border fork of similar age and I'll be gutted if they don't see me out!

I still have my father's old spade. He had it for at least 40 years and I have had it for over 30 years :thumb:. I've only replaced the handle three times and the blade once :hehe: :lollol:
