I have a blue hydrangea growing in a large pot of ericaceous compost. I've just trimmed back the deadheads from last year and it looks bare. Bit late for this year I know, but what bulbs might grow in that soil for next year?
    Thanks :)

Hi daisybelle, most woodland bulbs will be happy such as snowdrops, bluebells, erythroniums, fritillaries etc. they will have died down by the time the hydrangea puts on full growth. You could also try a couple of low growing epimediums or pulmonarias - not bulbs but woodland plants, they will like the shade under the hydrangea during the summer.

Buy snowdrops 'in the green' ie. pots of them in growth rather than dry bulbs. They should be appearing in all the garden centres right now.
