Hellos again, I've just been browsing through past posts an noticed somebody saying that lupins go underground for winter. My lupins are still shooting leaves and are very much above ground. Should I cut them back to below the soil?

This is my first year of gardening and have done lots of planting over the spring summer but am about to tackle my first winter. I'm not sure what I should be leaving and what cutting back.

The frosts will kill off the leaves above ground. As you say it survives over winter through its roots, in the spring it will sprout new leaves. It's up to you if you want to cut it down now or let the frost do it.

I've always grown lupins and thought I knew something about them - but now I know I know nothing at all.
In one garden I had they were evergreen and the plants lasted year after year.
In the next garden they died down after a short flowering and the plants only lasted 2 to 3 years.
In this garden the plants kept flowering all summer long and are still doing it in Oct.

In your case I would just leave them be and see what happens.
