Can someone identify this creature please ...

    ... it is 'hanging from the ceiling beam in our outdoor living room which appeared (along with the nearby fungi) after our recent rain. Note it has droplets falling from it although the rain was several days ago. It is 3cm across and 4cm long. We don't really want to touch it (with a stick no doubt) until we know what might be lurking inside.

    it looks like some sort of fungus to me, totally harless:)

    Looks pretty much like a fungus, its the fruiting body, which suggests that the beam itself is probably riddled with the fungus.

    I doubt there is anything inside.

    Bit like a mushroom.

    I've never seen such a fungi before. Since you didn't want to eat it with your roast yesterday, Sis, it might be nice dried and used for a Christmas decoration hanging by a pretty red bow. :hehe:

    Strangely Sis, I said it looked like a Christmas decoration .. bit of tinsel, ribbon ... :hehe:
