Spent the weekend in Wales looking for potential Smallholdings to buy as I really need a lifestyle change: Lots to choose from but no takers yet; first time Ive seen knotweed in all its glory (no - not buying that one !)

Ohh! This post has left my brain buzzing with questions....
When we finally leave Belgium, our plan is to end up in the Welsh Marches, and with a decent amount of land.
As @luciusmaximus asked: whereabouts are you looking? Do you get told about problems such as knotweed? (And loads more, but I’ll stop myself there!)

Well - So far Ive seen five places around Carmarthenshire but nothing thats quite right ; the ideal site has about 20 acres split between pasture & woodland with a river & enough buildings to live in + somewhere to convert for AirBNB kinda thing. Ive seen places with the ideal land & places with the ideal buildings but not both at the same place :-)

Im looking to get as self-sufficient as I can with veggies & enough animals to keep the grass down + surplus to sell on + chickens + bees + Orchard ; with a bit of luck I can do it without having to take out another mortgage & make enough from the place to break even (mostly via AirBNB or Glamping or something like that I expect) - we will see. My Partner wants to keep working for a few years but I have no illusions about the costs involved with this kind of venture.

Knotweed is quite common where theres a river boundary - legally sellers are required to declare it & have a management plan but nobody has done either yet ; its not really a problem unless it gets out of hand or its close to buildings - this was the worst Ive seen, its come all the way from the river thru the wood & not been managed for years:

Dont fancy taking that on !

Interestingly, only one of the properties Ive seen is currently owned by a welsh family, all the rest have been incomers from all over the place.

But despondent at the moment as I thought we had found the place last week but on the second viewing both my partner & I decided that the buildings were just in the wrong place & it would be a major job to make it work for us, so thats on hold to see if the price comes down a bit - off on Holiday for a week anyway so Ill pick the search up again in June.

Haven't done much for acouple of days apart from walking the boys and making the meals.
Had a bad bout of a urine infection, had a lot of pain and couldn't sleep with it.
Got some antibiotics a 3 days course don't know why they don't give me more because I know it will come back. But feeling better today but still take it easy.

Couldn't get a appointment so I spoke to her on the phone

They are trying not to over prescribe antibiotics now @Logan as we are becoming immune to them.

As you know I suffer badly from them as well, but thankfully so far this year I've only had to have antibiotics once .Before I had my op. 3years ago I was on daily meds to try to stop them recurring , they were very good and certainly cut down the number of times I had them. But I hate taking meds at the best of times so I looked into alternatives to lifelong medicating , it was coincidental but the one I found was what my consultant/ surgeon advised too ' D-Mannose. Definitely works if taken straight away!:dbgrtmb:
Hope you feel better soon, horrid condition isn't it.

Thank you @Upsydaisy very informative and yes i remember that you have them and glad that you've found something to help.
I feel better today and had a good night's sleep thanks.
It's been 2 years since I had one.
I know that they're trying to cut down on antibiotics. But the patients keep asking for them just for a sore throat or a viral infection which won't help them.

What doesn't help is that i was told many years ago that i had a week bladder from having a full term pregnancy and I have to drink a lot of water and go to the toilet straight away when i need to.

Yes, I'm the same, have to drink gallons( it seems) . My surgeon was impressed at how much fluids I drink and said I would be a lot worse if I cut down. Our bodies go through a lot during pregnancy and childbirth!

ah yes, @Logan and @Upsydaisy isn't pregnancy wonderful. So many souvenirs to enjoy until death do you part!

I've been working on making sure all of my files are backed up in two places because the laptop I use the most is starting to act strangely. I have a 320g back up drive and also some smaller 70g drives so hopefully I'll have room for everything.

It is finally warm enough to wear lighter jackets here. Today I had to do some tack sewing on a denim jacket that I duplicated from a Neiman Marcus design. I'm not keen on sewing clothing so I probably wasn't thorough in my final inspection before hanging in these in the closet last winter. Didn't notice until I was out today that I had missed tacking the facing on the front left side and it kept trying to flip inside out. All done now. I'd better check the other cream coloured denim jacket I made to make sure I didn't overlook something there too.

I went to the town to file some video data regarding something nasty happening on my street and also picked up papers to submit a freedom of information request. I have lots of paperwork to do when it's raining.

I'm planning to finish planting out the last of my annual flowers because the guessers say it is going to rain tomorrow. Nothing nicer than free water :)

@Canadian Lori Many, many years ago, I think in the mid 70s, we visited t'other half's parents in Arlington, Texas. Mum took us to a Neiman Marcus and we bought a scarf and out loud said we should take a carrier bag with us to prove we had been there ... the floor swalllowed us up! :hate-shocked:

Yes, their prices are eyebrow raisers for sure! I copied a sorta sailor/military style with a Nehru collar. 3 bands of embroidery around the cuffs and collar. I made a pair of matching slacks however, it needs about 30 sit ups a day to make them fit right and I'm not there yet
