Is this a Hazel?

        Definitely not Corylus avellana.. common name Hazel.
        Definitely not Alnus glutinosa...common name Alder.
        Leaf shape not right for these.

        My money is on Betula sp...a birch .
        Not even going to make a suggestion as to which one it might be!
        Wind blown seeds grow easily...especially in sandy soil.

            Just for info...mystery sapling has small white marks on the trunk....Lenticels.
            Typical of Betula.

            1.and 2 Hazel......Corylus avellana showing hairy leaf stalk.
