Now this is why you can't grow tropical / sub-tropical plants in the UK ... having two nights just hovering under zero, this is the result ....

The Poinsettia and the Lantana ...

    The Iochroma ...

Tecoma Stans with the Salvia untouched next to it ....

Day temps have been 9-10 but should go up again starting tomorrow ...says she hopefully ....

Now stop complaining and go and sniff some of your citrus:hehe:

A sweltering 8 C at present which makes a nice change as we've been below freezing for a week. Three mm rain today and the wind is currently gusting 38mph.

There's a good chance they will recover my lady as long as the frost isn't about too long and does not penetrate the ground.

    :) Good morning, folk.

Only went to 1.5c last night and today is supposed to be 13c, currently 6c, and the rest of the week is set to be mid teens and 4-6c at night, more normal for this time of the year.

Think it would have been iced orange juice straight of the tree Dave. :D

Marley, they are 'fleeting' frosts here, gone as soon as the sun hits it.

I think you're right, walnut, but not 100% sure of the Iochroma ... first frost attack for it, but we'll see. I'll cut all the damage off when I know this is over.

Ivory, once a year or every two years we have a little spell like this ... the yachts in the harbours have been know to freeze over ....

Lol, I don't detect a huge amount of sympathy going on here! The yachts sound interesting though...

After what we have been enduring I dont think you will get much sympathy LoL.:D

But I suppose your -1 is as bad as our -8, its to do with what we expect.

I'm sure everthing will recover OK, might need to prune the dead bits off though:)

    That's a very sad Echium, roders .... :(

I wasn't expecting any kind of sympathy here, Aaron or pete ... I was just pointing out that this is what happens with a very slight frost to these plants here so how can you expect to grow them outside there? (not you guys personally)! I know they will recover ... fingers crossed for the Iochroma ....

    Oh, Ivory, -17c ..... glad I live where I do .... :)

Here is where I spent the afternoon ....

I can assure you .... I'm not complaining ... :lollol:
