    Just to make you giggle.

    I have a 2 year planted, bare root Malus Red Sentinel outside my study. It was planted there to give me something to look at during these groggy months. Yesterday it WAS loaded with small, bright red apples.

    Then the blackbirds discovered it. At one point 15 male blackbirds were gorgeing on it. An hour later NONE. Now i have another bare tree to look at. (i knew there was a reason to plant crab apples)

    In a fit of guilt i threw out 50 large apples, saved fpr this very reason, for the birds. They have been eaten too.

    Guilt or what

    It was the cold weather. We grow a huge range of crab apples and they usually carry their fruit until they fall off. This year our trees were stripped clean
