      Jobs in the garden today?

Just a last minute water, before loading the car (broken gate meant lots of walking up and down the drive - does that count?), and driving for over 4 hours to our holiday gite in Normandy....

Now chilling, having unloaded the car, gone to the local l’eclerc and Lidl for supplies, had tea, and rearranged the beds to create a proper king size bed.

      Nite nite all!

I put the rabbits outside the day before yesterday as lovely afternoon. I had an hour to spare so thought I would continue working on the border next to the runs. However ...... having put the rabbits into the runs I then noticed a tiny baby mouse in the grass in one of the runs. Very cold, wet and shocked but no obvious injuries. No idea how he got into the middle of the run as too small and weak to have travelled far. Eyes were closed, thought due to shock but still closed so possibly around two or three weeks old. I put him on a heatpad and left in a box overnight, fully expecting him to have not survived but he's still here. I've got some goats milk which he will either suck off the end of a paint brush or lick off my hand. He washes his face after each feed and falls asleep in my hand :wub2:. My problem is we are going away next week. The couple who have the gift shop in Beaumaris are keen on helping wildlife so I've asked if they can look after him for the time we're away. I didn't get to do my border.

Yesterday I put some shelving in a polytunnel so that I could put my cacti in there for the autumn, but someone had a different idea so the cacti had to wait !

The usual weeding and dead heading, had to cut back a couple of salvias that were bent on world domination; same with a buddleja.

I did a bit of "transplanting" yesterday.
Our front lawn is north facing and quite small so is in the shadow of the big acer in the mornings and the house for the rest of the day. Also the azalea "hedge" doesn't help. So some small parts of it suffer from moss and bits get a bit sparse under the azaleas and there's occasionally some small patches of weeds.

But our lawn in the back garden that get lots of sun. I cut it yesterday for the second time this week and I had to empty the grass box half way round.
The lawn on the right edge tends to "creep" over the edhe of the path despite me using a strimmer after mowing to keep a tidy edge. Over a couple of months the bit to the right of the central bed will creep about four or five inches over the edge of the path. If I trim this off with a Stanley knife I've go a long strip of healthy grass complete with roots. This is ideal for patching the front lawn just like replacing divots on a golf course fairway. The grass of course "matches" unlike it would if I bought a roll of turf.

Hedge cutting took up most of the morning and now we're almost half way along. A good pile for the bonfire. This afternoon we went in search of horse muck. We need rain so I can get on with planting. None forecast this week.
The juniper which was cut this week is now a three foot stump - a perfect place for a phormium in a cauldron.

Finished planting out the bulbs now on the east patio.Potted up a large and two smaller winter tubs. Transferred the various Bacopas to new pots to overwinter.

The soil is very dry here so we gave everywhere a good watering. Hubs cut the lawns for a second time week.

Popped out to buy 3 trays of Winter Pansies, that should last me until my sowings grow on a bit more.

Next revamp will be the kitchen patio. Old and very woody Lavender needs removing, I have bought some more smaller ones to replace them with but am now not sure if I want them there again. I can easily find another home for them. Need to have a ponder.:)

Just a little watering, waiting for a dull day to paint the shed & summer house roof, has anyone tried using a paint roller?
