Well, guess a picture would soon be in order. Just had a delivery of a huge truck load of wood chips. and another of top soil. Husband will be renting a tractor to pick up and put. should be fun. Trust me, huge piles, really really huge. big truck. Love it.

I spent some time today with pruners trying to trim the Wildlife Jasmine and Clematis hedge without cutting any the Clematis intertwined into the Jasmine. It seems that the Clematis has grown extremely well, and as there're about 5 or 6 varieties in the Hedge I want to leave them to grow on and see how they flower next year. so there's a heap of Jasmine prunings that need putting in the garden waste.......a tomorrow job:heehee:
I retreated to the Patio with a Mug of Tea, and decided that although it was somewhat early to divide Agaphanthus I would divide a large clump of them that were sitting in a large pot. It's the first time I have divided Agapanthus and I was suprised how tough and hard the root system:rolleyespink: and bulb system was and that I had to saw my way through the clump. However, I was pleased to find that I now had 5 Agapanthus which needed potting up and I mixed a couple of buckets of Compost, coarse sand and grit to use as good growing medium. The Clematis on the Trellis Entrance are still growing at a phenomenal rate so I have to tie them in every day, but this being a "tactile" garden you still get brushed by some of the tendrils of the Clematis as you pass through.
Now, this next task just shows how nuts I can be......as for the last few days when passing under the archway of the Climbing Rose "Masquerade" in the entrance of the side path between the House and the Garage I've, fpr days, been getting a facefull of Spiders Web because a very determined Spider has spun a very beautiful 3' wide web at shoulder and head height and I keep forgetting it's there:doh::wallbanging:. I must have walked into that web at least 4 times and each time within 2 days the spider had respun the web. So, today, in acknowledgement to the Spiders determination and persistance I have tied a bright orange rope across the path at stomach height so that now I have to duck under the rope to walk along the side passage.:hate-shocked::heehee:

I had an easy day today, bit of lawn cutting and hedge work and back home by midday.
First job had Bill badger problems, holes and turf lifted. Quick repair as no doubt there will be more to repair by the end of the season.

there's about 400 Tulips, of various varieties, that were delivered today. All I need is to find space to plant them, along with the two bucketfulls of Daffs and Tulips that I cleaned the other day. It's going to be fun planting them!!:heehee::cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

Spent the day at my Dad's and worked my way along the ' woodland walk' area weeding and clearing it of all potential trip hazards including a ton of ivy runners!! Trimmed a large shrub that was obscuring the largest waterfall in the big pond. Dead headed and removed some spent annuals. Lovely weather...perfect in fact.:):hotsun:

Well, those doors are solid wood and came from a local carpentry company who now, sadly, now no longer exist. over 30 years ago, KFF. My Wife loved the country feel and wanted that for the Kitchen, so there are ceramic flowered knobs for the doors and both of us chose the green for the doors. I built the cabinets and did the electrics, while the neighbour next door did the plumbing. So, seeing my Wife's smile when it was all put together, painted and tiled was a real present as she had the "Country" Kitchen she wanted.

Not much done in the garden today other than giving the lawns a feed.

But a bit of planning for 2020.

We've already dumped the four "tree roses" we bought from T & M three years ago, they did OK but we weren't overly impressed, so that's freed up four ceramic pots.
There's another rose on the patio which is a bit out of favour, so that may be dumped or might get a reprieve, but in which case it will come out of a ceramic pot into a plastic one and be relegated to a place along the drive next to the fence, with others.

I sent off for a David Austin catalogue weeks ago and now I've "forced" my wife to finally make a choice.

So we've ordered new roses for the five available ceramic pots. This will bring up those in ceramic pots on the two patios to a total of 12, plus 2 in stone tubs, 6 down the drive in black plastic tubs and 3 in borders. I've also said, "enough's enough!"

We've ordered these bare root to be delivered in November.

                    Eustacia Vye.
                    Olivia Rose Austin.
                    Roald Dahl.
                    Charles Darwin.
                    Desdemona.

All their roses can be seen on their website, but my wife prefers to look at a catalogue and tear out the pages of those she likes.

A friend who lives a few miles away in Timperley has said that the Wyevale near her has been finally taken over by Dobies, as was advised by e-mail a few weeks ago.

Shan't bother going this late in the year, if I want any "Christmas tat," I can get it on e-Bay.

Just a bit of potting up today. Last years blackcurrant cuttings. Stood back and thought to myself get a grip man what the hell are you going to do with 20 blackcurrants ?

Yes, I have a collection of them dotted around the House and even in the Bathroom, Wee Tam!!
I picked them up while in the rif raf in different places around the world so they're got some memories in them, so they trigger those memories whenever I look at them.

Those look like heavy duty thread cutters! Thanks for the tip. Also, I might build something to raise the peppers up 2 feet to make it easier for harvest time. Will tumble that idea around my empty skull over the winter :)

I only watered things and trimmed the longer grass at the perimeter of the yard today.

Strimmed the bank at the end of my back lawn then all round the boundaries to keep nature at bay, then mowed. With such a wet year this year the moss is taking over again. I'll be scarifying next Spring.
