Don't you just love the thinking behind the technology for signing for parcels and then having to sign a meaningless scrawl on the device with your finger!!:wallbanging::dunno::heehee:
I had a large parcel delivered by Courier yesterday and the Courier apologised saying "We've been instructed to sign for parcels ourselves in front of the customer because of the Virus situation" and so he signed for my parcel himself......good thinking by the Courier Company.:cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

Outrage as shopper offers to sell pack of toilet roll to pensioner for £20:dunno:
Shoppers at a Waitrose store were outraged after a customer piled up a trolley with toilet rolls - and offered to sell a pack to an elderly woman pensioner for £20.

The pensioner went into the store at Sandbach, Cheshire, to buy several items, including a pack normally costing less than £5, but the shelves had been cleared in the toilet roll buying spree caused by panic over coronavirus.

One eye witness said: “As she moved around the shop she came across this woman with a trolley full of toilet rolls so she politely asked her if she could have one.

‘’She was astonished when the woman replied certainly she could - but for £20. Obviously she refused the offer.”

The friend added: “The lady is elderly and frail and the response of this hoarder makes this incident not only downright mean but reprehensible.”

A spokeswoman for Waitrose and Partners said they were sorry to learn of the customer’s exchange with another shopper in the store.

She added: “ We are continuing to work closely with our suppliers to ensure that we have stock available and are asking customers to buy only what they need of those products which are in high demand, so we have enough for everyone.”

I believe the reason there are people hoarding toilet paper is because they are greedy, selfish and their heads are empty but otherwise they are full of something else and when it all comes out, things could get messy without it..

We have had Call Guardian on our phones for a few years. This only allows numbers through that we have filed in its directory. All others have to announce who they are before the system will let the phone ring. It then plays what they have said and asks if I want to talk to them. Since we've had that we have never had cold calls. That upset me a bit because I used to enjoy winding them up. :heehee:

Now I know where I read that bit about high temperatures being our friend in this crisis because a correction just came to my inbox... and I thought I could trust a gardener to check his facts first!

              "
With apologies, we distributed incorrect information yesterday.

With thanks to three of our (astute!) newsletter readers the quote we used from Stanford Health Care about the Covid 19 virus dying in high temperatures out of doors was incorrect.

Mark quoted from an email he received from a trusted friend (a lawyer).

Here is what the Stanford University Website actually says today, note the disclaimer below.

"Will warm weather stop the outbreak of COVID-19?

It is not yet known whether weather and temperature impact the spread of COVID-19. Some other viruses, like the common cold and flu, spread more during cold weather months but that does not mean it is impossible to become sick with these viruses during other months. At this time, it is not known whether the spread of COVID-19 will decrease when weather becomes warmer. There is much more to learn about the transmissibility, severity, and other features associated with COVID-19 and investigations are ongoing."

Also, they have this statement on their homepage:

"Note: A widely distributed email about COVID-19 that is attributed to a "Stanford Hospital board member" contains inaccurate information. It did not come from Stanford Medicine."

                    In a similar vein:-
An elderly lady was in a supermarket and went to the aisle with the toilet rolls. The shelf was almost completely empty and there was a man there with his arm full of them. She politely said that he was being rather selfish.
To which he replied 'I appreciate your concern but do you mind if I continue stacking the shelf?'

I think you really should have a read ref the conditions in china and the food being eaten in these places and you'll see not only Rat's but bats/wild birds/ ETC are still as i write this reply being served,
If anyone has to have a world wide virus to wake them up as how near is the uk to having one from the shores of the uk?
By keeping house hold waste sitting around for weeks befor its removed? Insome cases outside the front doors,
And we'll see if we have a shortage in the very near future of food etc in the supply chain (shops)
If people are not going to the work place then how do you think all the production and supply of food etc is going to continue?
