Which variety of crab apple?

    Which crab apple would you recommend that is particularly bird friendly, as I don't want to use the fruits myself. There are so many to choose from.

    If you have a crab apple, what variety is it, and do the birds eat the fruits?

    Good afternoon @Sienna's Blossom I have a Malus ‘Evereste’ tree and the wildlife love it:smile:

    ps Scarlet flower buds fade to pink before opening in a flurry of unusually large, white flowers. These mature to yellowish-orange fruits with a red flush that last well into winter. Originally marketed as a patio crab apple, capitalising on its upright habit, it is now appreciated as a fine all rounder. Height 7m.

        We've got a John Downie, early flowering = lots of Bee's = lots of fruit, we're happy :):) and so the wildlife lots of black birds, fieldfare's and thrushes

          Sounds lovely @Jiffy I'd love to get more birds especially fieldfares we've only ever seen them in the garden when we've had prolonged snow, they were eating the elderberries I think.

          We always have 1 Feildfare every year that will guard that crab apple, always fun to watch :thumbsup:
