Hi, I’m not sure if this is a yuca plant or not?? Anyways it use to be very bushy with great spiked green leafs Now it only has a few remaining at the top. As you can see from the picture it has grown new shoots at the bottom. So I’m not sure if the main trunk has died off and if I should cut it right down or not??
Any help would be greatly appreciated. 02620C65-25FE-470A-94B2-B2DC4489AFDB.jpeg

    Hi Brett

    Welcome to Gardeners Corner;(

    :sign0016:

If it were mine I think I would cut the main stem at the base and let the basal shoots grow. It's all down to personal taste really. The other thing would be to remove the basal shoots ( Perhaps use them as cuttings) and that would divert more energy and food into the top growth, but I personally think it's gone to far.

PS where do you live it looks absolutely stunning

I'd go with cutting the main stem right back, it looks costal, just wonder if the top part has been hit by salt.

It looks like the new shoots have some variegation so should be an impressive plant when looking good.
