As most of you know, I am one of those who has been in exile since March, and throughout that I have been chucking in more hours work wise than is healthy to be honest. I need to break the cycle, and whilst I cannot go out to busy places (nor would I really want to) I do want to basically go for a run in the car - - not to go anywhere specific, not to get out of the car (beyond maybe parking up for a sandwich and a can of pop or something), just to go for a good old run. Around here, there are not many places to do this - it is motorway, motorway or A road with not a lot to see. We've looked at roads such as the A303 (certain to be nose to tail traffic wise) or the A272 which looks OK, but nothing really to see as such, if that makes sense? I'm not really up for a 4hr drive to get somewhere to turn round and come back (much as I love the likes of York and Whitby etc), but am not shy about having a bit of a run, so I was wondering about the Cotswolds. I know little of the place though, and wouldn't even know where to aim for map wise to let us have a bit of a run. Beaches etc, nice as they are, are going to be out because they are likely to be rammed. Any suggestions?
My brother used to live in a pretty village called Broadway FC. Have a look at that and the area around Evesham.
Bibury can be nice Some villages on the outskirts of where the water parks are can be nice as well But carefull on the main A roads as Glos police have a long range speed gun, they can catch you speeding before you know it
Bourton on the Water is lovely, as is Morton in the Marsh. Cirencester is one of my favourite places. It's been a few years since I last ventured down that way (about 5) but I intend to remedy that next year. They can be a hot tourist spot, but you may be lucky and find a quiet spot to settle with a picnic.
Excellent Thank you all, I will take a look and see what the others in the family think (the beauty of google maps!)
Hi @Joolz - we're planning for next weekend, as we had bits to do this weekend (and pay day is next weekend too). Completely the other direction, but Cheddar Gorge is now in the frame for a visit.
Me no daft, me no silly..... I don't really care where we go, as long as I get out of this house for a day!
Oh, Cheddar Gorge is a fabulous place @Fat Controller, good choice! I'm envious, I've not been down that way (normally holiday in Somerset when we can find the time) for a fair few years. Have a fabulous time and I hope the weather is fair for you all. x
