Help what's wrong with my beautiful clematis? The saga continues....

    My beautiful clematis of 6 years is ailing. Any ideas of what's gone wrong? Unbeknown to me until now my partner sprayed some weed killer last week fairly close to it and I dont know if it was a breezy day or not
    ☹!
    If the weed killer is the culprit is there anything I can do to save it?

      Looks like a bit of flower scorch, but the leaves look ok. Probably not long term damage.....

        Well, logic says that if it was the result of the effects of Weedkiller the foliage would be wilting, turning brown and black but, since it isn't, I doubt very much if your partner is responsible.
        ed, have you had a lot of rain recently?, because that looks more like fungus and rain damage in humid conditions:dunno:

        Well, your Clematis itself seems to be doing fine with only the damage being to the flowers. I would, painful as it is, remove all the affected flowers to stop the spread of fungus, if it is that, and see if the Clematis will try to reflower. A weekly feed of Tomato Feed would help the plant to recover from the loss of flowers.
        If it had been Weedkiller, which I don't believe it is, then as most Weedkillers are systemic it usually leads to the death of the plant or, should it survive, twisted foliage, weak stems etc which are usually permanent.

            Phew! I will start talking to him again :). Yes as you suspected we had incessant rain last week and then Sunday, Monday & today was very hot. Thank you so much for your comments. :love30::yay::hapfeet:

            Have you removed the affected Clematis flowers yet, eddybaby? Keeping them on the Clematis
            will only prolong the fungal attack.....and bin them, but not on the compost heap if you have one.

              It could be a touch of weedkiller spray, or simply rain and climate. OK the foliage appears to be unaffected, but we have to understand some of the principles of a plants growth etc. In this instance. The flowers are shall we say, closer to the spray-off, so obviously would be mostly affected. Also let's not forget. The vegative material that leaves and flower petals consist of, are so, so different. I support my friend Amandii, when he mentions picking off the affected flowers.

              Unfortunately many plants suffer similar disarsters, not always from spraying, but also the sudden summer weather changes. Just a couple of years ago. It was a grand season for rose growers. Bountful displays and follow-up buds. Everything in the garden reall was coming up roses. Then sudden storms and heavy rain. Gardens were now filled with rose bushes sporting massive displays of soggy looking tea bags.

              Sad things happen in the garden. Never mind.
