Heard on the news this morning that the average household gets through 216 plastic bottles of haircare products a year. Plus loads of other products that are bad for the environment.

The figures published seem ridiculous to me

"The number of products used by the average British household each month:

The hair products:-

2 bottles of shampoo
2 bottles of conditioner
2 tubs of hair mask
2 cans of hairspray
2 tubs of hair gel
2 bottles of conditioner spray
2 bottles dry shampoo
2 bottles of styling spray
2 bottles of heat protector

Other products:-

2 bottles of shower gel
2 tubes of toothpaste
2 bottles of hand soap
A bottle of moisturiser
2 bottles of bubble bath
2 bottles of mouthwash
2 bottles of toilet cleaner
2 cans of deodorant
9 toilet rolls
6 cotton buds
7 cotton balls/pads
7 face wipes

Yet 61 per cent feel guilty about the amount of plastic bottles they get through as a result of their hair and beauty products, according to the OnePoll data.

But a shocking one in five wouldn’t even consider switching to products which are kinder to the planet."

The hair products seem totally unbelievable to me. I'd like to know what segment of the community they surveyed and how many people were involved.

Do any of you get through anywhere near that amount of product?

 

I'm pleased to hear it!

I buy a 1.5 litre bottle of conditioning shampoo about once a year. We both wash our hair every day. We don't use any of the other hair products. So who is using up our quota of plastic bottles?

I don't believe it!

 

I would guess it was a very limited survey done for some purpose and that they picked people that seemed to do a lot to their hair.

It's like the ads on TV that state that almost 80% of people polled said .... Then you read the small print that they polled 27 people!
