Can i propage a fig by sticking a branch into the ground?

    hallo,
    can i cut off an old/young branch from a fig and stick it in the ground hoping it would root? - moving house, tree too big to take with me --

    I'd try a few cuttings if that's what you mean.:biggrin:
    They do root, I've done it a few times but not recently, I think a section of fairly young but ripe wood in a pot of sandy compost would be best.

      thank you, perfect! - lots of sandy soil available, will stick 5 young shoots in a pot, molly-cuddle 'em and hope for the best.

        Separate pots would be better as if they do eventually root they will be tangled together and you may lose some pulling them apart.
