Solved Two Plants to be ID Please

The 1st one I asked the Chinese man if they were dahlias but he said no but to me it does look just like a dahlia.
The second picture we got in our own garden but just cannot remember what they are.Wifey tells me she remembers growing them from seed but I save all the seed packets and I cannot find the packet. I say we purchased them from Morrisons.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd say Dahlias and Asters

 

1. Definitely Dahlia.
2. Looks like one of the annual Asters.....Callistephus chinensis..otherwise known as China Aster.

I only a beginner, I have no idea but they are very beautiful flowers, gorgeous colours. Im a little envious.
