Not one for harming the little critters, Like my feathered friends, how do you stop them from harming themselves by preventing them getting into my greenhouse when you leave the door open?
All thoughts considered, those which upset my feathered pillow will get the pillow fight. :snooze:

I have a sheet of green shade netting which hangs in the door way of the greenhouse.

Usually its the young ones that get in there at this time of the year, I've often tried to get them out but it makes matters worse.
I find it best to let them find their own way out.

I have more trouble later in the season when magpies fly in to pick the ripe tomatoes. I do the same as Palustris, hang netting over the door.

Just ordered a bunch of the stuff to go over the greenhouse and to cover the door. Delivery is the only way, and hope that they will put it behind the back gate for me too.

Bird matter will be resolved once I remove a large piece of Bramble which has found a way into the house. It has cracked a large pain and is not on the bonfire ready to be broken down into ash along with other brown matter.
Then I shall ensure my little plant-lets are shaded and have plenty of ventilation.

I've had 2 young sparrows get stuck in the greenhouse in the last couple of days. I've found that they find their way out easily if I walk around the back of the greenhouse and this seems to direct them to the door.

I'm liking the netting idea. I have some scaffolding netting so that should do the job. Might have to raid the washing line for some clothes pegs though...

This is one of the reasons I put in louvers.. I used to have issues with unwanted visitors coming through the door when I had it open to encourage air flow up through the vent. I even used a cheapie vinyl roller shade as a screen door. I cut out large squares and glued in insect screening so that air could still be drawn in and the blind would retract for entry. It kept creatures out but I was never happy with it. I then installed side louvers and found that they , which I covered with netting which just stays in place, allows lots of air to enter and to draw the heat up through the roof vent.

It was 90f today and the air was practically whistling to draw the hot air up :blue thumb:

Nails in all four corners for the outside, and string for the inside.

My GH is a Halls cedarwood. The door has three horizontal glass panes, replaced with twinwall polycarbonate. These are easily removed in the summer. The area on the inside of the doot is covered with wire mesh.
