Chinese Moneyplant

    Cant remember who sent me this from here it was such a time ago! Its grown lots but the lower leaves seem to keep going brown and falling off, does anyone know whats wrong?

    Andy, your Pilea Peperomioides (in other words a Pilea that resembles a Peperomia) looks like it is suffering from being too wet or a dry atmosphere, can't say for sure as I don't know how often you water it. They do shed leaves naturally as shown by the bare stem. At this time of year I wouldn't worry too much as it should produce more in the summer anyway.:)

    Can you check just to make sure the roots aren't rotting? As strongylodon said it probibly is just too much water. Use tepid water if you can, let the compost dry out slightly between watering and make sure it's not in a draft too.

    For now hold off on the watering till it's dryed out a bit, check the roots and let us know how you get on :)

    Thanks Sweetpea, I thought that may be the case. Its currently in a ceramic pot with potting compost, I think I will take it out and put it into a plastic pot then into the ceramic pot so it doesnt get so overwartered. I have to admit I have flooded it a couple of times, its hard to judge sometimes how much it needs!
