Hi all. I grew strawberries for the first time last year with plants given to me by a pal. I used straw to protect from bugs and it's still in place. Should I replace it with new mulch now or when the fruit starts to appear? Picture shows original plants in ground and new plants from last years runners in 'palette shelves' above and to left and rhubarb bottom right.

The idea of using straw is to lift the fruit off the soil to avoid slugs and snails etc. So yes it's a good time to pack more straw around the plants.
