Potted Olive tree keeps getting yellow leaves?

Hi, I have an olive tree which is in a fairly big pot in the front of the house which is south facing, I have had it for about 2 years, the first year it done pretty good but this year a lot of leaves have been turning yellow and when you touch them fall off easy, i recently took off all yellow ones that were on it, that was about 2/3 weeks ago and on looking today there is about another 15 or so leaves that are yellow again.

I have googled this and come to the conclusion it seemed like it might be getting over watered maybe?

I am confused though because it gets watered with about 1 - 1.5L of water maybe once per week, maybe a little more, i guess it had rained a bit as well, I thought it might be getting under watered but these symptoms seem to be too much water is that right?

I am finding it a bit hard to judge what i am best to do to help it if anyone can help please?

It's best to plant them in a clay or wood container, plastic holds too much water for olive trees. Soil should have good drainage with stones and vermiculite . Only water it when the first few inches of soil is completely dry. They don't like to be kept moist.they like a sunny position.

Yes it could be or as well as needing a pot size up.

 

Is it growing new leaves? Only they do drop the old leaves at certain times of the year.

Assume the pot has drainage holes?

How long has it been in the pot and what is the compost?

 

Yeh pot has drainage hole, its a good size.
Its been in for around 2 years now although im not sure of the exact compost, it was a general one as far as i know.
It actually is growing new leaves yeh, there is deffinitly longer braches with newer leaves gorwing.

 

My guess would be it needs feeding, do you feed it?
