I think its a tad early yet unless the top growth has yellowed , if they have yellowed harvest them.

I didn't know what to do with myself today was planning on going out and about which didn't materialise so I've been in the garden on and off all day. I've wrestled with a veronicastrum fascination seen has its trying to swash all before it, also had a little wrestle with the eupatorium try to pin it back but its bigger than me so I'll left it to it , I need to buy more and larger plant supports are just get round to it earlier with wire.

Sowed quite a lot of seeds biennials and perennials, need to buy some pansy / viola seeds . I normally buy Viola and Pansy plants but after having loads of trouble get good plants in the colour I want for the past two autumn I grow some myself. Tidy the greenhouse up a bit while I was in there

Mowed the lawn and next doors and cut the delphinium down to the ground hoping for a second flush , and well fed afterwards with fish blood & bone with a liquid feed later on. Sunday fed day some all the pots and tomatoes get fed. Also give the roses their 2nd feed of top rose .

Thank you Perki . Tops are....wilting...a bit, but could be due to being battered by awful rain. They are still green so will leave - and remember to keep an eye on them.

Mowed the back grass it was about a foot high, still got to do the edges and watered the blueberries, gave one of them a trim it was dropping all of it's leaves so hope that it's not going to die.

Yesterday finally saw the Big Chop. I'd love to call it something posh such as Chelsea Chop, but unfortunately it was more like "Sunderland plays Newcastle" "have a blade, will cut" kind of attack. :paladin:

For the first time ever I cut the geraniums down to ground, applied a layer of MPC and BFB and sat back admiring the devastation. From pillows of fluffy pinkness, gently swaying in the wind to... this :frown:

            minusgeraniums.jpg

If the promised new lush growth and a second wave of flowers fail to appear I will write a strongly worded letter to Gardening World.

Removing the Geraniums exposed a nicely browned lawn edge, the colour matches perfectly with the bald patches elsewhere. :heehee: We haven't had rain for several weeks.

The more pleasant chops included deadheading and trimming any unruly growth and now things look actually quite all right. Apart from the non- existing Geraniums that is. :noidea:

Had to sow more dill, we seem to be getting through vast amounts now that tatties are at their best. Found some Rocket seeds and chucked them in. Found several empty seedbags that have been carefully kept so that the exact variant can be identified when admiring the plants. At the moment nothing that I grow quite matches the bags so I binned them. Sometimes I wish I were able to label something.

Anyways, The Chop will today extend to my hair and in the evening we'll have a nice leisurely BBQ, or hoover the house- whichever we fancy. Holidays! :hapydancsmil:

Titivating the front garden today. A 'new' white Buddleja has sprung up from nowhere - I don't remember planting it. I saw it growing but left it untouched as I wasn't sure what it was - it's 6 feet tall now - the butterflies must be waiting to swoop down on the flowers.

I did remove a large conifer last year - perhaps it was planted by the previous house owner and has been hibernating until it had a chance to grow.

                Isn't nature marvellous....

The strong winds blew down some of my cosmos and hollyhocks. Now they are in vases round the house and patio. Next year I must remember the size the cosmos reach and not plant them at the bottom of a bank where they are most likely to suffer from strong winds.
Apart from deadheading there's not too much to do at the moment so its the perfect time for watching the numerous butterflies and relaxing with a drink.

Big chop or chuck going on here today. Fed up with bedding plants withering away due to lack of appropriate weather conditions and battered plants that have lost their good looks due to wind and heavy rain damage.. I'm in ruthless mode today!

A bag of compost had split open at Lidls exposing a rather attractive mix. It said it was suitable for hanging baskets and containers and at 99p for a 20 litre bag, it founds its way into my shopping trolley.
With a couple off handfuls of washed sand I thought this will fit the bill nicely for potting on my new 3 Lavender "Tiara" .....

Hi all, I hope everyone is well :)

Today i have mowed the lawn and weeded around. I'm noticing lots of little new seedlings growing but I'm trying to figure out what they are so have left a few in. (Unsure if they are from next doors hedges) I've also planted a spirea x cinerea "Grefsheim" into one border. I bought on a whim yesterday in the half price section.
