Opened up a chamaerops to view a bit more of the trunks, only for the petioles to open up a bit more of my skin(again). Pruned stuff, dead headed more stuff and granddaughter watered stuff. Found some extremely rusted tools so put them in vinegar for the week.
I then felt cold in the north easterly breeze, so knocked it on the head and went on youtube

Mowed the lawn, which I haven't got to lately - as was hoping to have got my big mower fixed. It was getting too tall so no option - had to attack it with the wee mower before it got any more unmanageable. Took me best part of 3 hours

My Laburnum tree in the front garden appears to be slowly dying, so been cutting out some of the dead stuff, I'll probably leave it for another year now and see what happens next year.

Its a bit tall and some parts of it are quite heavy, so a bit near the limit to what I feel capable of doing on my own these days.

Got a few reasonable sized logs out of it.

Hopefully you will be able to use the logs for something - its a lovely timber.

Pulling up some of the cosmos - they were falling over so the flowers are now in a vase gracing my dining table. I cut a mixed bunch of flowers (phlox, asters, daisies, altromeria and japanese anemones) from the cutting garden for the the hall.
                  Continuing to deadhead the dahlias.
The roses are reflowering and the coreopsis have started to bloom.
On my remaining salvia I have one flower but lots of buds. I will give up on salvias because they give so little so late.
I have been disappointed with my hostas which I planted in the borders this year so they will be split, potted and given away. After persevering for many years I think their time in my garden has come to an end.
As always the garden rules and anything that doesn't thrive gets the heave ho.

@alana I have one Hosta that remained in a border ..looks awful!! All of the other ones are grown in pots and are in amazing condition.. no slug/ snail attack signs . I am digging up and splitting the border on and replanting into pots.

I've been getting my patio and lean-too at the back of the house ready for building work to be done there soon ... and I have so many pots and tubs that I have to find room for, so I've been moving them to the front garden and others to the back garden (to accompany the many there already)
Here's my front garden now looking very cluttered, although I don't mind it looking like that :-

I have also been repotting my Gasteria which was forming a nice clump, but the clump fell apart so now I've got 14 ! :heehee:

Today I don't think I'll do anything, it's too dull and cold .

@Victoria I'm having a little extension built instead of the half glass/half perspex damp lean-to, where I'm going to put the cooker and noisy freezers, and the old outside loo will be repositioned to create more room. I am also hopefully going to have new decking made of non-slip material and new steps down to the side entrance of the house.

Then next year I'm going to have the damp cold conservatory taken down and the kitchen extended to take it's place. It is only 6 ft but will make a big difference.
