I'm now looking after a row of very sorry looking blackcurrants that have been neglected for years. I've learned that I need to prune them back this winter. Any other ideas to bring them back to life?

They don't need pruning as much as they need the weeds and grass clearing from around the crown. Then a generous feed (blackcurrants seem to appreciate an ericaceous feed..sulphate of iron is good and cheap).

Those black currants will have changed lives by tomorrow when I implement your suggestions. Very much appreciated.
