    I was so sad to hear this on the radio this morning. Had to wear my suit jacket at half mast and shout Mr Grimsdale at Mrs JWK to wake her up, she didn't see the joke at 7am and maybe that wasn't Norman's style either.

    We saw him on stage when he was in his eighties, still doing all the slapstick falling about stuff. He had us in tears, he was such a lovely and funny character.

    Another real great that has gone :cry:

    Very sad to hear about this. I saw him once when I was young (no jokes please :D ) at the Bristol Hippodrome. I can still remember his parting song, "I'm going away, away, away....." Such a nice fellow, not so many around these days....

    Such a shame, but a great innings. I saw a clip on TV of him receiving his knighthood (?) from the Queen and he couldn't resist doing his trademark 'trip'...even Her Majesty was smiling as he walked away :)

    One of the greats for sure, even watching a clip on the news just now made me laugh.
