    Hi
This is my first post to your forum.
Can anyone help me identify the bush in the photo please.
If you can, I would like to grow some more, is it possible to take cuttings and if so, how do I go about it, as you can see it also has berries, is it possible to use them to grow more.
    Thankyou

I'd say it was Cherry Laurel - (Prunus Laurocerasus)

:wlcm: Hello rogern and welcome to GC.

Your shrub looks very healthy and it could be one of the Privets (Lingutrum( but I will let one of our experts come along and identify this for you.

Most of us have been known to post in the 'wrong' place at times .... in the meantime I will move this to the Identification Section.

    Enjoy the forum. :)

If you want to grow more there is a simple technique called layering. Just choose some suitable branches near the ground and bend them down onto the soil, use a brick or a weight to keep it down. Then cover with some soil. The branch stem will start to send out roots into the soil, it will take a few months but you will be able to sever the branch from the main shrub and dig up your new rooted plant.

The more I look at this bush, the more it resembles the holly family, no matter, I will wait for an expert, thanks for the replies so far

Hi rogern and welcome. It could be a Gaultheria (wintergreen).
What were the flowers like in spring?

I too am unsure about the berries shape. The sparsity, no, mine`s a lazy sod plus I pruned it too late this year-it`s my own fault, but the berries don`t look right for a holly.

I was going to say the non prickly holly (as Quercus did) but I a) wasn't sure and b) decided to wait for the experts to arrive.

    Welcome to GC :)
