Saving a banana...

No its in a wooden planter, my new gardens not that big and limited sun, i may plant one in the front next yr as the backs almost north facing x

 

I bought this one this year from Dirt cheap plants in Sheffield. It was about 5ft and it's sitting cosy in my greenhouse.

 

This winter will be an interesting test of my method. We've already had more -5°C and -6°Cs than in the whole of last winter. Then there's the challenge of warm, sunny periods (I wish!) interspersed with cold spells through Feb and March.

 

I've managed to fetch my maurelli back to life it was looking pale last week but looks better now

 

Mines gone backwards a bit but they do get a move on once they get going.

 

Corr yours is right dark colour! ..puts mine back to pale,ive repotted it in bigger tub,should i feed it or wait??

 

I knocked mine out and there was few white roots so I'm holding off doing much with it until the roots start moving.
Its the strong sunlight that darkens them up.

 

See now ive been keeping mine shaded thinking it might cause leaf damage but yours has lots more leaf on it too,mines only on its second yr with me

 

I only bought mine last year, it was pretty small.

Definitely not, I've just experimented for far too long.

 

Most types of banana eg musa, ensete are the labradors of the plant world. You cannot overfeed them. When I potted up my ensete, I put a shed load of chicken manure pellets in the tub. I also water double strength miracle grow or whatever is at hand.
On a side note, I keep mine dry over winter, but this year it got knocked sideways so will take a few extra weeks to straighten out!
