Cordyline Australis advice.

Am a bit concerned about yellowing leaves on our Cordyline Australis. It is in a container, which I appreciate could be part of the issue!
We have already removed several faded leaves, and to do more we feel would give it a very unbalanced look.
We had bark chippings covering the soil to inhibit any weed growth and to lock in moisture, but could this have changed the balance of the soil! We tend not to water it much and it had a single feed of Vitax4 about 1 month ago.
Am thinking of removing some soil and replacing with fresh compost. Any suggestions gratefully received.

It doesn't look too bad, as you say it's in a pot. If the growing point was yellowing, I'd worry.
A top dressing with fresh compost and/or oick it out of the pot and add some more compost at the bottom definitely helps

 

I only really think of them as short term pot plants, they are hungry and are best planted out after a few years, some of the more colourful types seem to do better in pots I think.

It needs water and feed in a pot all summer.

 

Also to add, in a pot, the stem seems to be spindlier
