This is my lovely dog Sampson from the moment we got him he was always my little pup even when he was fully grown and he weighted 10 stone, He was such a gentle giant always by my side, always making me laugh at the silly things he would do, sadly we lost him nearly a month ago now, He was only 7 and a half, poor little fella's heart gave out. He's left such a huge hole in my heart, I feel lost without him, it's like someone's turned the light off inside me.

It can be worse than losing a family member. I had a beautiful german shepherd bitch, I hope they are chasing heavenly rabbits together right now.

I am dreadfully sorry for you.

Oh I know the feeling well, Nat, still miss my guys, two wonderful German shep. miss my buddies.
Not ready still, for another. My cats keep me amused and give me joy.
The grief you feel is the respect the of love of your friend and his return love to you.

Hello Nat and welcome to GC ... and I'm sorry to have to welcome you in these circumstances.

I've gone through this situation all too many times but with cats but I really feel for you ... the pain will pass but the memories will always be there.

I know all too well exactly how you feel, even after three years I still find it hard to swallow when I think of my last dog I had PTS, He touched my life so lightly I hardly knew he was there, till he went, and he left a hole as deep and as wide as the ocean,. They say time heals, but IMO it only papers over the cracks. I am so so sorry for you.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss, Nat. Like my Sis (Lady of Leisure) I am a cat person, and I have also lost my darlings (5 in all) and so I know what you are feeling. It hurts, even after a long time, but then the joyful memories come back and they do help ease the pain a little.

My thoughts are with you. xx

It's the saddest thing to lose a furry friend. Sending a big hug.
