I haven't been around too much recently but when I type www.gardenerscorner.co.uk into the address bar, I get a hostgator page. I assumed the site was down but have managed to get on here via an old thread i'd saved to favourites.

Is it just a blip or has something changed that I haven't noticed??

yeah, managed to get on by adding 'forum' to the end but surely the problem needs to be sorted out?? If you try to get the forum from a google search, you get the gatorhost page. Potential new members, or infrequent visitors will likely just assume the site has closed down and go elsewhere.

    "hostgator"

I hadn't seen that (I use a Favourite Link to reach this site), but no wonder so few people have re-appeared since the site resumed

I know I sound like the same old scratched record, but the powers that be don't seem to have much ability when it comes to the computer project skills required when upgrading the site.

I was very surprised when they announced that the site would be down for several days whilst moving to a new host, but I kept my trap shut at that time thinking that they had had enough comments after the previous upgrade, and I was truly hopeful that their plan to move to a new host was a carefully though through solution to resolve the issues that people had raised, and their wish to add a number of features and gizmos (which I'm not in favour of, but that's up to them, I've already made my view clear)

So now its back, the domain name has been hijacked, a number of features are missing (like THANKS), the new gizmos don't seem to be here (yet), many people have reduced post counts (some have lost all their post count, but not their posts), and I hear that a Restore will fix this (I'm sceptical that a Restore can be merged with the changing content on this site - that would be like trying to change the tires on a car whilst it is driving along the motorway).

I had expected some sort of big "We're back" announcement , but although the Mods seem to be around it all seems very quiet on the trumpet-blowing front (or even the Mea Culpa front for that matter). Perhaps its all-hands-on-deck but no time to announce that's what's going on??

I get enjoyment from this service and even though I've been gardening for donkey's years I've learnt loads of things here. Yarooh!

There are clearly lots of other people who gain enjoyment here too, and I have no gut feeling whether I should be vocal in complaint, given that its a free service, or just sit down, shut up, and bite my bottom lip - or find an alternative forum even.

    Advice and opinions welcome.

Seconded, because I have yet to see the benefits. Loads of questions and the answer is always wait and see. It`s been like this for some time now. I`ve waited and not seen.

Well, the Thanks button is back (either than, or my age makes me think it DID actually go away for a bit ...)
