    Hi all,
I popped to the garden centre for bird seed and came back with a sad looking rose from the half dead section  luckily the OH is out for the day at a family function so I've sneaked it in.
It's full of what I think is blackspot. It is in flower so do I cut right back or treat it as it is? Label just says double delight.
    Thanks in advance :dbgrtmb:

    Hi @Jasmine star
It is black spot, it looks worse than what it is. I wouldn't cut it right back but just a little. The new growth shouldn't have the spots, i get it on my roses and i don't treat it and they recover from it. Someone told me in the winter spray all the stems with a solution of jays fluid, a tablespoon in a small sprayer full of water but it has to be when the plant is dormant.
It's a nice hybrid tea rose flower, what are you going to do with it?

Hi @Logan , thanks so much for the advice. I'll do just that. Yes its lovely and the flowers smell beautiful. I was thinking of a spot in the border that's free or I have a large pot. What do you think?

Your welcome,I think that it would be better in the border than in a pot, but read Woos post first.

Having the same problem over here. Two of my roses have identical brownish/black patches which cause the leaves to turn yellow and die off in the end.
Doesn't seem to affect rose growth a lot. So I try to prune the infected leaves and come winter, I'll prune the whole rose down to 20 cm above ground (careful, not all roses like that, but mine really don't care).

Thanks @Black Dog I think you're right. If I can get on top of it then they will have a good chance. I'm new to roses and have a lot to learn :rolleyespink:

There are only two types of plants in my garden.
                  1. Plants that don't mind a harsh pruning
                  2. Plants that will be cut down and replaced with something else soon
