I was rather surprised to see some flowers on my strawberry plants a few weeks ago, and even more surprised to find they had actually fruited....well, now they have ripened and I have about 6 very almost ready strawberries and the rest of the plants on the patch (about 10 or so) have now also come into full flower.
Has anyone else heard of such a late crop? and will this disrupt next years fruiting?

    Hi Axie,

I find the best way is to creep up on the strawberry bed & then jump up, dressed as a badger wearing a blown up marigold glove on my head, that usually suprizes the hell out of mine.

Back to reality (You are now leaving Ziggy's head, please fasten your safety belt & refrain from smoking till the head has landed:idea:)

The strawbs wont do anything that they don't want to at this time of year. You'll only weaken them if you force them over winter with artificial light & heat.

I know we've had a frost already but its the american tropical storm season now so we'll be getting a succession of warm moist tropical air for a bit, warding off the colder days till the end of the month so things will still crop for a bit.

Still getting corgettes, need to buy a shed load of vinegar & find some more jars.

made 2 jars of pickled beetroot this afternoon & still got loads in the ground.

    My pleasure Ali,

Get some clotches over anything you want to extend & pile leaf mould around your globe artichokes & pray for a welsh summer.

No globe artichoke, mainly because I have no idea what to do with them.
but we do have jerusalem ones.....or rather 'fartichokes' as my delightful daughter likes to call them :o

I'll give it a try but we are not big fish eaters (I know, its sinful).
Globe artichokes scare me a little....they look slightly alien!
