Just had a wander round Currys this morning, only really two there in my price range I really dont want to go over £400 maximum.
Quite a few saying W11 ready?
Not sure I want one of those, I'd be bound to get in a state trying to install an Operating System.
So hoping to get something with W11 already installed.

I see it has three USB sockets, but dont understand as 2 of the socket seem to be different to the other one, I hope one will allow me to connect a mouse?
I see it has a micro SD socket, no use to me what so ever, I only use the full size ones.

No , DVD , I think I'm going to need lots of extras and there will be plugs and wires all over the place, I've got enough different USB cables atready to fill a suitcase.:rolleyespink:

I use a wireless keyboard & mouse, you have a USB plug in transmitter thingy, that works for both. So no wires, it works for me.

This is where I get confused, so they bring out new USB sockets, are existing accessories likely to work on the newer kind of sockets.

@pete My computer has a couple of USB 2 and a couple of USB 3 sockets. The USB 3 sockets look and feel different. The main difference between them is how fast they transfer data, USB 3 is faster. All of my gadgets, memory sticks, camera, Kindle, phone etc work equally well with either type.

Thankyou Nigel, I was hoping the same plug could be used in them, and all devices.
To be honest the speed doesn't really matter a lot to me.

I have USB 2 and USB 3 connectors on my laptop and both use USB A connectors. These new USB C need a different connector which goes in either way around as far as I am aware.

I've been looking it up and yes @Jocko its a different plug and socket unlike 1 2 3 which relates to speed.

Have you ever seen or used Windows 10 Pete? It's easier on the brain than Windows8. When I bought my old laptop it had Windows8 and knew I wouldn't get my head round it so changed it to Windows10 - much easier. At that time Windows10 had only just been released and there were a number of gremlins that needed sorting out by Microsoft. Even so it was still easier to work with.

I can use a mouse and all computers allow for that, but having used a touchpad for years I find it more convenient now.

My new laptop has a touch screen (optional whether I use it) but like yourself I can't stand them, so won't be using it. It's bad enough using them on the two Kindles I have.
