    Looks like it could be an Arbutus unedo 'Rubra' to me. Not sure it would 'fruit' in your area but does 'sort of' on the Isle of Wight as I had one there but the common one not the 'Rubra'.

    It's what they make Medronha (firewater) from here.

    Just a guess. :)
