To be ohnestly I've never really like programs like gardeners world as I feel like I'm being patronised constantly...although it's still sad to see a TV program go so far down hill:(

" You'd film it at the weekend and show at the end of the week giving you time to edit it etc."

I think they need to show how it turned out. If you want a "how to" series you need to film for a whole year, and edit the related bits together.

Nothing wrong with showing sowing Tomato seeds in, say, February, but I would also want to see a plant later in the year, and some fruit, and a greenhouse full of mature plants ... but it would be a bit early to show me how to take the side shoots out!

" I like Carol Klein but her enthusiam seems a little too forced sometimes"

Doesn't work for me either, but clearly she is popular. I don't seem to get enough "instruction" for her pieces, they seem to jump around the topics too much.

Carol Klein drives me nuts too. Too much gush, not enough information.

I think it would be a good idea to show a series as it goes along, the trouble with showing it months later is weather conditions have changed, and if you sow your seeds at the same time they are dealt with together .
You would be taking side shoots off at roughly the same time :)

Me too. Far too old-fashioned for most though, I fear.

    Hi,
Some years ago GQT came and did a recording at our gardening club!
I have to say it was not much fun being there, we had to keep quite quiet the whole time, no clapping, no noise of any kind during the recording, and at the end they re-recorded parts off it.

But when it was broadcast it was excellent!

Yeah, been there, done that-recordings always sound fun but are long and boring to get involved in.

Great to listen to when you're driving, although I have to resist the urge to make notes! :dh:

And, you have to ask the question they give you, NOT the one you want to ask.

    Ours were all original!

It's like the readers letters in the newspapers, more interisting than the pro's mutterings!
