Golden Grove Bamboo

I was thinking about digging a trench and makeing a rhizome barrier on my boundary fence for peace of mind due to my neighbour planting bamboos there. Do you think builders dampcourse membraine 24" would do the job? or do you think the rhizomes would pierce through the damp course ?
