Hi Janet, good to hear! I have now got two fairly large specimens, they are waiting to be planted, as my garden help has damaged his hamstring ! Ain’t it always the way? Press on with your cutting, you obviously have the time to wait for it to grow big, I don’t, so I have to buy big to make the garden look established. Only started it a year ago. I searched around at garden centres for my "little red robin" but they all seemed to stock every variety except the little dwarf one I was after.

However, I did eventually manage to source one on line from "gardening direct". It's going to be a little stunner this one.

My "little red robin" is doing ok so far. But I was a little alarmed yesterday when I noticed that there are masses of aphid clusters concentrated on the newest leaves. I wiped a lot off with my finger but obviously I need to spray with something.

Is there a DIY sure fire way to get rid of the aphids, a home concoction that I can make up myself?

Diluted washing-up liquid usually does the trick as long as you can spray the underside of the leaves.
