Hi all when I moved in there was a tree looked like a palm tree in the back garden.
With the great British weather all the leaves have gone and I’m trying to find out if it can be saved and how?
Thank you for the help in advance

Cordylines have struggled last winter, I think yours may be dead right down to the ground.
They do reshoot mostly, but it will be a few years before it gets back to any thing like it was.

Try scraping some of the bark off lower down the stem, if it's brown underneath it's likely only to reshoot from the roots.

One that size will probably have multiple shoots from all over the trunk. Cut down the soft branches back to a firm bit, or wait to see where it shoots and cut just above the topmost one.
Or, as Pete says, look for the shoots from the roots

Mine have done the opposite, the top part is still intact, but the stems are dead.

Sorry I’m no good with gardening.
Am I best removing this tree and planting a new one?
    Thank you

Did you particularly like it? If yes then I'd leave it until the end of summer and see if it has shoots anywhere and then cut back to just above these; then hope for a gentler winter.
If you didn't like it have it out this coming weekend and plant something you like.

I think I will have to get rid of it and start a new one. Thank you for all the replies
