Iron sulphate aka ferrous sulphate will kill moss but can cause brown staining on some surfaces - though I doubt if it would stain tarmac.

Yes a spray of ferrous sulphat will kill the moss, and it doesn't cost too much, but it can leave a faint brown stain, even on tarmac - at least on tarmac like mine which is old, and pale grey, and that's the kind that tends to get moss on it. I think there are some commercial moss killers which will do the same job without the risk of staining.

If the moss is well established s****e most of it off with a flat-bladed hoe before treating the residue.

thick bleach from wilkinsons will do the job - 5 parts water to 1 part bleach - spray twice separated by one week but not immediately before or after rain

    .

A pack of Sulphate of Iron from Wilko costs £1.79, works wonders!

If you are not near a Wilko's store, the same pack costs £1.99 in the garden centre!

Dont use iron sulphate, you risk staining other surfaces eg carpets, paving etc. On lawns its great on paving not so.

Jeyes fluid works very well but of course smells

Out of habbit I normaly use a trade product called supermosstox (you will strugle to obtain this) however I have also used Brintons Multi purpose mould cleaner and this is equally efeective and cheaper..
