He or she looks healthy enough but there's a small bold patch on the back of the shoulder, could be a old injury that's healed up.

I don't know if it has been fighting but there are a few bald patches. One on the ear and one nearer the rump. The nose looks like it has been injured at some time as well.
It can't half eat. We had filled our two's dishes last night plus two plates with chicken on them. This morning, the meat hadn't been touched, so I plated it all up and put it out for the cat. I sat and watched as the whole lot was scoffed. Add a few chips and it would have been a big meal for me! I phoned the Lothian Cat Rescue and they told me just to keep feeding it and unless it shows signs of distress it should be fine. They are too busy to come out (they deal with 1.000 cats a year), but if the cat is deteriorating then I have to let them know and they will come out and trap it.

Well done Jocko you're doing everything possible to reunite him with his owners...:fingers crossed::fingers crossed:.

He does look in a bit of a sorry state and has either been in a confrontation or has a skin ailment. Poor little mite.

He's probably a male and got into fights, they look as if they're old scars so he might have been out for a long time.

Despite being quite small it looks kind of broad in the beam so we thought it was an expectant female. Despite the sair bits, its coat is in good condition so it must be grooming well. it comes three times a day, at more or less the same times every day. If it wasn't always famished we would suspect it had a home to go to.
We were out today and all the shops have the flyers on display. Once I am accepted by the local Facebook group I will post it there as well.

Well, I have joined the local Facebook group, posted information on the cat and it must have a bus pass. It has been reported in several places up to 4 miles away! But no one appears to be missing one.

They could have moved somewhere else and left the cat behind.

That could well be what has happened. Or the cat has moved back of its own accord. Got a good picture this evening.

So very true Jocko.....my parents had neighbours that moved away and out of the district, I recall it was a significant distance away. Months later Sibby their beautiful long haired pedigree cat turned up on my parents doorstep, as skinny as a rake and with his beautiful coat of fur all matted, tangled and filthy. He looked in such a sorry state.
We contacted his owners and they were thrilled to hear that he was OK as he hadn't been home for 2 months !! He had gone missing several times before but had been found fairly locally to their new address. As much as it broke their hearts they decided to ask my parents if they would be willing to keep him, having had cats before they of course were happy to give Sibby a home with them. :):cat-kittyandsmiley:Cats are often heard of walking really long distances back to where they use to live..so yes it's a very strong possibility he did the journey back to the area by his own choice.

He is lovely, like my Magic Sam, a black Blues Guitarist ... (but you would know that) who died here age 20 (but travelled back and forth from the UK and here for a few years and in the UK between Bucks and the IoW. Also like two boy brothers we had in Alabama for nine years, T and Taffy. I think the boy has chosen you and your home. :cat-kittyandsmiley::whistle:

I think it is pregnant. She is broad in the beam and tonight was struggling to squeeze through between the slats in the fence as if she found herself wider than she thought. For the first time tonight, she didn't finish her plate of food so we must be getting her filled up. Our cats are very fussy and what they ate last week they turn their nose up at this. That is what goes out to our guest.

@Jocko , do you have any local cat protection charities?
They do exist around here and although mostly full to the brim, might be worth a call, you dont want lots of kittens, if you tell them you think its pregnant they might just do something.

It seems that cats who are normally strays will find a safe place to be cared for when they are due to give birth. She's decided you will look after her and her babies......

Looking after a mum and her new bornes is no easy task @Jocko . As you already have your own house cats they would not take kindly to their home being invaded .
I wish you good fortune in finding an acceptable solution, you are so kind to have given her sanctuary up until now ,
