This lives in the greenhouse. It seems to be eating the red spider mite in my peppers.
Will it bite me! Thank you V. IMG_0193.jpeg :gaah::gaah:

Red spider mite is probably a bit small for this spider.
No it is unlikely to bite you and even if it tried it wouldn't penetrate the skin.

It's pretty, there are lots of those in my garden this year. I donn't think it will bite you, they've never bitten me ...

Just had a quick look around and it is probably:
Garden Spider or Cross Orbweaver (Araneus diadematus)
So it is a web weaving spider catching flying insects. Cross refers to the marking not it's mood.

Thank you for all that info. I will be able to pick the fruit now without trying to hide from it. V

I believe it is Araneus diadematus, the European garden spider.
They come in various colours. The orange ones are also known, for some reason :):):), as Pumpkin spiders

The orange ones aren’t as scary as a red one would be. V

The spider's abdomen is large due to carrying eggs, once laid it will die shortly after, they are only annual arachnids.

Now I’m sad. Any idea where it will store its eggs. I clean the greenhouse out after everything has died down. It would be such a shame for it to spend its life producing the next generation and then die, I come in and kill them all.V

It's a common garden spider. They can easily be identified by the cross on the abdomen. And the abdomen is huge compared to the rest of the spider. They do come in a variety of shades but the cross remains on them all. The large ones are the females, the males are much smaller.

I like spiders and I play around with them, even as a kid. I once had a rather large garden spider crawling around my hand but i don't think it liked it, and it let me know by giving me a little "nip" on my finger!!

So yes, a large grumpy one will indeed bite, it doesn't hurt, but it's quite a shock!

This was some footage I took a couple of weeks ago of a male garden spider tentatively checking out a large female, and with good reason, the females will eat the males if they don't woo her correctly. This one give up after a while, she must have been giving out some bad vibes, lol.
