Does anyone want a contorted Hazel? It is getting rather swamped by other plants in my garden and I need to find it another home. Its about 3 ft tall and healthy.
I live on the south coast, near Christchurch.

    Also loads of crocosmia

Probably other plants as well.... - I have too many!!

I can see that lovely broom of yours I enjoyed so much in the Halcyon days of late Spring Pal, I have copied you but I`ll wait until it has some oomph before I put up a pic

    Hi Mrs crocosmia
Its actually a schizostylis - Kaffir lily.
Seems to spread like wildfire here and need to thin it out a bit.
So - no takers on the hazel, ah well. I shall put it on freecycle.

    Wilroda,

Pal is right :thumb:. You don't need to worry about it being swamped. It is tough as old boots and will soon grow into a magnificent tree. They look wonderful in the spring with the twisting branches and dangling catkins.

We have to prune our tree quite hard every couple of years. We give the pruned branches to our local florist as they cost her a fortune to buy wholesale. She gives us flowers in return.

This is a photo taken this month before we started pruning and clearing the undergrowth.

I would love some crocosmia. I too have a contorted hazel, but its in a pot as I was told they are happy enough that way. Mind you its only been in it a year! Can't think where I would plant it if I had to plant it out!!
