Talking to plants is not only beneficial for us but they could be replying!

Plants use hormones and chemicals to grow and carry out day to day actions such as photosynthesis, water & nutrient absorption and growing. When intentionally or accidentally damaged plants often emit a hormone called ethylene, which is then picked up by other nearby plants which can then try and fend off any impending attack. So, plants do talk to each other, and if we could translate their chemical signals we could understand what they are saying.

Talking seriously there were rumours when I was at university (long time no see) that injured plants gave off tiny electrical discharges, way to small for anything but extremely sensiive instruments to notice, but, hey, they try.

And talking of tree conversations, thismorning I was raking up fallen leaves on the meadow, under the huge walnut tree, and had just made everything neat and tidy when the fiend dropped one more leaf on the grass. Oh, he heard me!!!!!:shk:

I thought it was a requirement to talk to plants. I say hi to the spiders and bugs as I weed and dig. I ask the catterpillars not to eat too many of my cabbage leaves (they don't take any notice though lol) I have to talk to my plants and pets because its the only way I can get a decent conversation!
    Mad? Who's mad??

:lollol::lollol:I am falling off my chair here laughing at that Dianni:lollol::lollol:

I fall in with the throwing of idle threats at the snails and slugs category myself!

Seriously, I went out last night to some shabby comedy night at a nearby pub ( don`t whtaever you do go to a Peter Kay tribute act!), I looked out of the window behind me and there was a huge slug crawling up the window outside. For one moment I thought I recognised it! Stalking me and laughing at me.
