Not a reply, but I couldn’t work out how to add text to the photos I posted. Just checked today to see if any signs of life from the pot with my Hosta in. I left the flowers on last year, and shook the dried pods over the surface of the compost.
If they are little hostas, what should I do with them now? There are loads of them over both the big pots. Thanks in advance!

That munching of one of the leaves suggests that they are @Ergates :). If you left the flowers on long enough to set seed, they may well be seedlings.

I’ve just seen your second post @Ergates. I don’t grow anything from seed anymore but my instinct would be to leave them for a couple of weeks until the weather gets warmer, we hope, and pot them up. There may be another Hosta grower along shortly to give better advice.

Not a hosta grower, but they definitely look like hosta seedlings.
I agree, probably better to leave a while and then pot up singly.

@Hostafan has grown more hostas than anyone I’ve ever come across … I’ve seen them …,he has polytunnels full of them
… not to mention the ones in his gardens beds and borders. He’ll recognise hosta seedlings … if he’s about …

I can't really tell as we now grow all ours by splitting them but from memory (not so good nowadays) I don't remember a single leaf stage . Otherwise they do look somewhat like Hostas.
