    Hi!
One of the agents of nature (don't know which) left this in one of my hibiscus-es pots and its bud looks so big and is yet to bloom. One of my neighbors said that its flower would look like a monkey's face, but the only flower that I'm aware of with monkey or cat-face is Pansy which this is of course not (DUH!). Can anyone help me identify this?

I don't know about monkey face. Fromthe leaves it looks like something in the brassicaceae (cruciferae) family, like garlic mustard and honesty.

Hi Greenmouli The leaves are very simiiar to the Monkey Flower (Wild Flower type/Mimulus guttatus) though not 100% sure there are lots of different varieties:)

Hi Ivory!: It doesn't look like brassicaceae (cruciferae) family as I looked them up online and the leaves' patterns don't match.
Hi wiseoldowl: Your guess seems right to me as the leaves in the pics I looked up in sites seem similar, but the bud is too very big - almost 3 to 4 centimeters in length and about 3 centimeters in diameter and is yet to bloom :( Been almost a month since it started giving out buds and it's still growing!

Probably a Mimulus as Woo says mimulus luteus is known as the monkey musk,a very handy pond marginal.

Okay, it turns out that it doesn't belong to Mimulus family as the half opened bud looks like Sunflower family.

So they mystery is yet to be resolved...

Looks a bit like Jerusalem artichoke.
But how that could become self sown is a mystery, also its a bit short.
    I think.:)

Hmmm.... Not sure again coz from the pic that I found online of the Jerusalem artichoke, the flowers' stalks are long and also they don't seem to grow in a bunch (I might be wrong, as I'm assuming this on seeing the pictures). If you look at the pics I posted you might have noticed that there are small buds at almost al the nodes and also there're four other buds surround this one. May be I should wait for it to bloom completely, as they leaves all look the same to me.

Yep, I know what you mean.
Whatever, it looks like a pretty good plant.

    How tall is it?

You must get some seed from it if possible.:)

Tall? For now it's about 2+ feet high. Yea, it definitely looks awesome. About the seeds, it's yet to bloom completely. Waiting eagerly to see the completely bloomed flower (Damn! I'm so impatient)

I'm gonna look like a dumbo if this is Sunflower after all! Urrgh! I'm almost sure it is now that it has almost bloomed, but seriously I was confused on seeing the buds in clusters as I've never seen the flowers growing in clusters and also at every leaf node like this!

Yeah, it does look like a sunflower.

Probably a different kind to the usual ones that grow from bird food, which tend to be the large single flowered types.
Yours looks a bit more bushy and definitly smaller.
