Sweet Peppers

Dug out the heated propagator and sowed some peppers:

5 x sweet pepper Jimmy Nardello
5 x sweet pepper Corno di Toro Rosso
5 x sweet pepper Redskin F1
2 x chilli Basque
2 x chilli Sugar Rush Stripey

The Redskin and Sugar Rush Stripey are both new to me.

 

I think everything that's going to germinate has done so.

1x Mohawk
3x Mini Lidl
2x Pasilla Bajio
1x Victoria
1x Ukrainian
2x Redskin

Plus a couple of last year's plants that I'm trying to overwinter. Should have more than enough, now.

 

My sweet peppers have started to germinate after a week. Took out a couple of pots with seed leaves from the propagator and replaced with a sowing of 2 x Mini Bell Chocolate sweet peppers.

 

First fruits on Mohawk and Redskin. Both are dehybridised versions of hybrid dwarf varieties.

 

How are your peppers doing @pete

 

First time trying peppers this year, had naively assumed they were similar to tomatoes so put them in an unheated greenhouse a couple of weeks ago. I’ve since read that it’s way too cold overnight still so brought them back indoors. They look healthy enough still, can I expect it to survive or should I start looking for new plants? The plants are about a foot high

 

As you give no location in your profile, its not possible to be precise.
Your peppers will not now die if they haven't already. If frosted, symptoms show rapidly. They will however not have enjoyed cool nights and therefore may 'sulk' for a while. As you say they are 30cm tall, they still have a chance of fruiting if future conditions are satisfactory.

They are doing OK, just looking for some proper warmth, aren't we all.

 

I'm South East too, both tomatoes and peppers are in the greenhouse from the 12th. I cover pots with fleece for nights. T insides went down to +4c as the worst.

 

Yes I've never had a problem with tomatoes out in the greenhouse at this time of year and more experienced relatives have theirs out too. I have now brought the peppers in though, fingers crossed they survive and fruit
